Sometime during the low season off the west coast of Thailand, off an island called Koh Tachai, a divesite known as Koh Tachai Plateau fell victim to an enormous fishing net. The net smothered a large area on the North West of the Plateau between. Similan Diving Safaris customers and staff decided to try and remove the net, in doing so we discovered many damaged corals and other fish life. The net had seemingly been there for most of the 5 month off season and the corals that lay underneath that weren't snapped or broken by net were obviously suffering from the effects of the algae covered net smothering them for so long. The following pictures show the clean up operation. Some net still remains and other dive operators in the area are now continuing the clean up.
